Mother-Baby Support Group
(before and after birth)
Parents, mothers (bring your babies), and mothers-to-be are invited to this weekly social gathering. A North Valley Hospital Registered Nurse hosts the event and is available to answer questions and educate on the many infant-caring fundamentals for when you are home. The informal group is open to come and go as you please every Monday from 12:30 pm - 2 pm in the comfortable Professional Office Building, 711 13th Street East, Whitefish (across the street from Walgreens). Refreshments are served.

~ Feeding choices and support for mothers
~ Feeding concerns for working moms
~ Sharing the gift of motherhood
~ Promoting healthy mother/baby/family relationships

Parent-Sibling Preparation
Preceding the Talk and Tour, parents and their children who are soon-to-be big brothers and sisters are invited to join others for discussion at The Birth Center at North Valley Hospital. The program is offered the first Thursday of each month at 6 p.m. and facilitated by a North Valley Hospital Registered Nurse. Attendees may park at the south end of the hospital and meet in The Birth Center waiting area of North Valley Hospital.

Safe Sitter
Safe SitterŪ is a medically accurate program that teaches young adolescents how to handle emergencies when caring for children. This class teaches safe and nurturing child care techniques, behavior management skills, and appropriate responses to medical emergencies. The student will receive a student manual, certificate of completion and safe sitter card on completion of the course. You can learn more about the Safe Sitter program on their website at www.safesitter.org. Classes start at 9:00 am and end at 3:00. Please bring a sack lunch. The class fee is $38 and pre-registration is required. Registrations are taken on a first-come first-served basis and are complete when we receive your fee and student forms (Send to: North Valley Hospital, Community Relations, 1600 Hospital Way, Whitefish, MT 59937). The Birth Center "Talk and Tour"
Following the Parent-Sibling Preparation, mothers-to-be and their families are invited for discussion, a tour of The Birth Center and refreshments. The program is offered the first Thursday of each month at 7 p.m. by a North Valley Hospital Registered Nurse. Visitors may park at the South end of the hospital and meet at The Birth Center/Day Surgery, and meet in The Birth Center waiting area of North Valley Hospital.

First Touch Infant Massage - Presented by Becky Walling, RN
This two-part series is facilitated by Certified Infant Massage instructor Becky Walling, Registered Nurse at North Valley Hospital. The class meets on the first and second Tuesdays of each month from 4:00 pm to 5:00 pm in the Professional Office Building, 711 13th Street East, Whitefish (across the street from Walgreens).

FREE Childbirth classes for First-time Parents
The six-week workshop is instructed by a North Valley Hospital Registered Nurse and is intended to maximize the enjoyment of your childbirth experience. The course includes discussion on the role of the support person, water births, positioning in labor, dilation and labor, medications used, C-sections, monitoring your progress and more. FREE Childbirth in a Nutshell
This intensive one day workshop is instructed by a North Valley Hospital Registered Nurse. The program is recommended for first-time parents who cannot attend the six week workshop, or as a refresher for those with previous childbirth experience. Life After Loss
A grief support group for people who have experienced miscarriage, stillbirth and neonatal loss is held at the Professional Office Building, 711 13th Street East, Whitefish (across the street from Walgreens) the second Monday of the month from 6 - 7:30 p.m. The group is hosted by Denise Cox, North Valley Hospital Birth Center RN, and Sienna Schildt, Councelor at Tamarack Grief Resource Center. Participation is free.
Confidential Cancer Support Group
The confidential group for women living with cancer meets the first and third Wednesday of the month from noon to 1:30 p.m. in the North Valley Hospital Community Health Library. The group is hosted by Terri Dunn, RN at North Valley Hospital.

American Heart Association CPR & First Aid Certification
This class includes instruction in CPR and First Aid including fractures, burns and excessive bleeding. The instruction is held on the fourth Wednesday of the month from 10:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Professional Office Building, 711 13th Street East, Whitefish (across the street from Walgreens). Bring a brown bag lunch. Cost is $50 per person ($35 if you just take the CPR) and includes American Heart Association certification cards.

AARP Driver Safety Class
This program is sponsored by North Valley Hospital and facilitated by AARP instructors. The program educates adults (50 yrs and older) about the age-related changes that can occur over time and how these changes can affect driving. By successfully completing the workshop, you may qualify for reductions in your car insurance premiums. This class meets every other month at the Professional Office Building, 711 13th Street East, Whitefish (across the street from Walgreens)
