More Options and Spaces for Community Meeting Rooms
North Valley Hospital is pursuing options for community room spaces. Plans are being considered to construct two buildings on the new Medical Campus for non-medical staffing needs. One building will be dedicated to education space.
The decision to use alternate spaces for larger community meetings is one of economics. A great savings to the overall costs of building the hospital will be realized by planning for community meeting space in other buildings owned by the hospital. According to Scott Bruner, of Swank Enterprises, the savings is very significant. The cost of completing ‘normal hospital space’ (space that is not specialized) is estimated at $225 per square foot. Commercial space, outside the walls of a hospital or school building, does not have to meet the same government guidelines and is currently estimated at about $150 per square foot.
It is easy to imagine how much money is saved by the decision to consider using the newer Professional Office Building on Columbia Avenue or non-hospital space to provide Community Education and meeting rooms. However, groups will still be able to schedule meetings in the new Education and Dining area within the hospital based on availability.
Just inside the main entrance the Education and Dining areas will seat about 50 people. With views of Big Mountain, the new dining room is larger than the current hospital Valley Café. In the new Center of Healing French doors will separate two areas. A room that seats 30 people can be closed off creating a well lit, private, quiet, and convenient meeting area. About another 15-20 seats, for hospital personnel and visitors will still be available at the same time a meeting is taking place. The long walk down the long hallway to the current community rooms will be a thing of the past. The Professional Office Building on Columbia Ave. is now being considered for community room space. The old community room, located in the hospital basement, is about 3200 square feet. Approximately 3500 square feet is the total area of the Professional Office Building featuring high ceilings, sky-lights, and great lighting.
Community rooms are a benefit North Valley Hospital provides and maintains for groups in the communities it serves. For those who are nearer to Columbia Falls and the Canyon Communities, the Columbia Falls Community Center is available and maintained by North Valley Hospital. Meeting rooms in Columbia Falls may be scheduled by calling 892-7546.
During the transitional phase, while the hospital is moving to its new location, there may be a time when larger groups will need to call ahead to be sure there are rooms available. When the Professional Office Building’s areas are ready, they will be larger, well lit, and more accommodating that the current hospital basement rooms.
North Valley Hospital offers the communities a choice….for patient-centered healthcare, and community meetings rooms.
