Eureka may be a small town tucked away in rural Montana, but residents have access to top-notch medical care that is far greater than most small towns typically receive. North County Medical Clinic, an affiliate of North Valley Hospital, is where specialty physicians are choosing to provide care for the growing needs in orthopedics, spine, cardiology, urology, and now, gynecology.
Drs. Mirna Bowden and Kathleen Lewison of Alpine Women’s Center in Whitefish provide a full spectrum of gynecological care the last Friday of the month at North Country Medical Clinic. What this means is patients can now receive their annual check-ups along with exams for incontinence, heavy bleeding, endometriosis, uterine fibroids, infertility, and more without having to drive to Whitefish.
“It’s a beautiful location to care for patients,” said Dr. Bowden, “and the need for these services has grown exponentially. Dr. Lewison and I are pleased to be able to offer a convenient and comfortable location for our patients to receive their medical care.”
Several specialists have already joined the medical expertise that North Country Medical Clinic’s family practice provides. In addition to gynecological services, Dr. Matt Baily provides orthopedic care every first and third Wednesday, Spine specialist Dr. Steven Rizzolo provides care every fourth Thursday, Urologist Dr. Jonathan Mercer cares for patients every first Thursday and Dr. Patrick Madigan provides cardiology care every first Monday. In addition, Ultrasound services are available every Monday and Thursday.
“We are continuing to invest in ways to provide services to outlying rural areas to better serve our communities,” said Jason Spring, North Valley Hospital CEO. “It’s important for North Valley Hospital to partner with world class physicians because our commitment to the Planetree philosophy of patient-centered care extends beyond the hospital to all of our affiliated clinics.”
Drs. Bowden and Lewison are Board Certified OB/GYN and skilled laparoscopic surgeons also trained on the da Vinci robot for abdominal surgeries. Dr. Bowden received her undergraduate degree from Connecticut College and medical degree from the University of Miami. Upon completing her residency in 2002 at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston Texas, Dr. Bowden moved to Whitefish and joined Alpine Women's Center.
Dr. Lewison received her undergraduate degree in 1988 from Smith College in Northampton, MA and her medical degree from the University of Maryland in 1993. She served her residency at the University of Maryland. Dr. Lewison practiced in North Carolina for 11 years prior to moving to Whitefish and joining Alpine Women’s Center in 2008.
