| North Valley Hospital is pleased to welcome two new members to its Senior Leadership Team. Randy Nightengale, CPA, has assumed the Chief Financial Officer position; and Margaret Bumgarner, MT (ASCP), CMC, CMPE, MBA has assumed the newly established position as Director of Outpatient Ambulatory Services.
Randy Nightengale joins the hospital from Lamar, CO where he was the CFO of a 25-bed critical access medical center. He was instrumental in increasing income 100%, reducing gross days in accounts receivables by almost 10 days and expenses by nearly 12% in the same year. This was all done without disrupting the quality of patient care.
Previous to his position in Lamar, Nightengale held several other positions such as Chief Financial Officer at a 25-bed critical access hospital in Kansas, accountant for three accounting firms and was a self-employed farmer. He moved to the Flathead Valley with his wife, Amy, who joined Glacier Medical Associates in Whitefish as a nurse practitioner. They have three children: Dylan, 5, Ella, 3, and Elijah, 2. The whole family enjoys the outdoors and takes every opportunity to fish, hike, camp and ski.
“The great thing about being at a small hospital is there’s such an opportunity to make a positive impact and see your results” Nightengale said. “Even in a financial role, I can help patients. Everyone’s working under the same goal: to help the hospital and community. The hospital and the people are what brought me here,” he said. “I wanted to be part of a thriving community and working at a beautiful place tops it off. North Valley Hospital has a great reputation.”
Margaret Bumgarner joins North Valley Hospital from Asheville, NC where she was the Executive Director of Physician Practice Operations at a large medical establishment. There, she was responsible for all operations of the integrated medical practices that included 135 physicians and 45 non-physician providers.
Other positions Bumgarner held were Administrator of Asheville Heart, Director of Physician Services for Medical Business Resources, Administrative Director of Medical Staff for Mission Hospitals and Assistant Director of Laboratory Services for Mission Hospitals. In her free time, she enjoys fishing, reading and gardening as well as spending time with her dog and three cats.
“The health system I came from grew from small to very large in my tenure, and I was ready to get back to a more hands-on experience with patients and doctors,” Bumgarner said. “My mantra has always been that we’re all providing patient care in our own way. When I read the same about North Valley Hospital, I felt like I was coming home.”
As the one responsible for all of the behind-the-scenes activity, Bumgarner is in tune to a clinic’s need for an efficient environment. This way, patients can have more time with their providers for the best possible care.
“When you’re already ill, the last thing you want to feel is stressed with your provider,” she said. “My role is to be an advocate behind the scenes to make patients feel comfortable, relaxed and confident with their providers. This is a role in development, and I’m flexible to assist where my expertise can best serve the hospital and patient care,” Bumgarner said.
