| | Occupational Therapy
“Occupation” means any activity that “occupies” our time. Occupational Therapy helps patients achieve maximum independence in their activities of daily living, which includes dressing, bathing, toileting and self-feeding. Therapists also may address problems with cooking, shopping, finance, household tasks and hobbies. The hospital’s goal is to provide independence through exercise, functional activities, adaptive techniques or special equipment.
North Valley Hospital’s Occupational Therapists are contracted staff through the SPORT Center in Whitefish. They determine patients’ abilities and limitations and work to develop all necessary skills for the patients to participate in the roles and activities that he/she finds meaningful.
Occupational Therapists offer:
- One on one patient care
- Hand Therapy
- Splint construction/fitting
- Edema Management
- Pediatric Therapy
- Stroke Rehabilitation
- Sensory Integration
- Visual Perceptual skills
- Coordination skills
- Adaptive Equipment training
Our therapists also work closely with Physical Therapy and Speech/Language Therapy to provide each patient with a full recovery, both mentally and physically. | |
