Douglas E. Taylor Artist and Poet
Spirit of Nature displayed at North Valley Hospital
Contemporary images of nature and wildlife, accompanied by a few poems and affirmations by Douglas E. Taylor are now on exhibit at the North Valley Hospital in Whitefish. The exhibit is comprised of gicle′e prints of very involved mixed-media artwork. Gicle′e is French for “sprayed ink” and refers to the high quality laser jet spray prints on archival material such as canvas or rag art paper. The artist intends these limited edition prints, in a small edition of only 50 prints, to be an enjoyable version of the original image. Taylor explains, “Nothing is lost in the detail and the illusion of texture; it is quite impressive how well the original can be reproduced as well as it is. With my imagery the gicle′e print is always a different size than the original, usually smaller than the original. My originals can be viewed on my website and in fine galleries.” Taylor often writes poetry that accompanies his imagery, two poetic affirmations and a poem can be viewed in this display. These poems are autographed and can be purchased through the hospital.
Taylor’s contemporary images have been recognized in national and international exhibits for his innovations in process and technique as well as imagery. He is inspired by nature and wildlife. Living in the Bitterroot Valley of western Montana, surrounded by so many wild things and such big wonderful country and skies, has stimulated his imagination and productivity. See www.douglasetaylor.net for more information about the artist and poet.
This exhibit runs now through August 30 at the North Valley Hospital in Whitefish at 1600 Hospital Way. See www.nvhosp.org or call (406) 863-3500.
